Are you struggling with every day life? The 9-5, illness, relationships, loss, family, loneliness, stress or just being alone with your thoughts; all these aspects of life can become truly overwhelming at times. You are not alone. I offer a safe, warm, accepting space for you to explore these thoughts and feelings to help you to understand and cope with what is going on in your life.
About me and my practice
I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor. Having completed a degree in Psychology, I have always had an interest in the human mind which enabled me to see how psychology and health are linked. Following my interest in physical and mental health I undertook a degree in Acupuncture.
The world in which we live challenges us every day in ways that may seem irrational or impossible to understand. It may make us feel lost or alone in our thoughts, unable to break through the mental barrier that allows us to function day to day.
Together we can navigate your world, explore your thoughts and delve deep into the root cause of your emotions. We can work together in a confidential, non-judgmental environment supporting you in every step of your journey no matter how long it takes. Asking for support is one of the most challenging moments you can take in your healing process, and taking this first step is already an incredible achievement. Therapy allows for a safe space to self-actualize where you are heard, valued and can become your true self.
Experience
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and of the I work in accordance with their ethical framework. I am also a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
My training is in humanistic person-centred therapy but I draw on my experience and knowledge of other types of therapy as is appropriate to the client with whom I'm working.
I have been an acupuncturist for over 10 years and this has given me significant experience working with chronic illness, pain and mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. As an acupuncturist I loved helping people work through their mental health problems and this inspired me to develop my skills further and become a psychotherapist.
